Your Photo, Your Memory
Choose a photo that feels like you
Your photograph is one of the most meaningful parts of your keepsake.
You don’t need a professionally taken photograph. Some of the most beautiful keepsakes come from simple, everyday moments.
The most important thing is choosing a photo where your special person or pet can be seen clearly.
Best Photos
For the best possible result, we recommend choosing a photo that is:
Clear & high-resolution
Use the original photo from your camera roll whenever possible. The clearer the image, the better we can work with it.
Easy to see
Choose a photo where the face or subject is clearly visible and not too far away.
Well lit
Natural daylight usually works beautifully. Avoid photos that are extremely dark or heavily shadowed.
Free from obstruction
Try to choose a photo where the face isn’t covered by hands, hair, sunglasses or other objects.
Portrait-style
Portrait or close-up photographs often work particularly well because your subject takes up more of the image.
Photos to Avoid
Your photo doesn’t have to be perfect — but some images may be difficult to reproduce clearly.
Try to avoid:
Very dark photos
If the subject is difficult to see, important details may be lost.
Blurry screenshots
Screenshots can sometimes be compressed and lose image quality.
Tiny faces
If your subject is very far away, there may not be enough detail to create a clear result.
Heavy filters
Strong filters can affect skin tones, colours and fine details.
Subjects that are cut off
Avoid photos where important parts of the face or subject are cropped out.
GOOD
Look for:
✓ Clear and sharp image
✓ Face or subject clearly visible
✓ Good natural lighting
✓ Subject takes up a good portion of the photo
✓ Minimal obstruction
✓ Original image whenever possible
These photos generally give us more detail to work with and produce a clearer keepsake.
NOT IDEAL
Try to avoid:
✕ Very dark images
✕ Blurry or pixelated photos
✕ Very small faces
✕ Heavy filters
✕ Faces covered by objects
✕ Subject cut off at important areas
Don’t worry if your photo isn’t perfect. If we’re unsure whether your photo will work, we’ll contact you before proceeding whenever possible.
A Little Tip Before You Upload
If you’re deciding between a few photographs, choose the one that makes you smile first.
The technically perfect photograph isn’t always the most meaningful one.
Sometimes it’s the sleepy face, the messy hair, the cuddle on the sofa or the photograph you took without even thinking about it.
That’s what makes it your memory.
